Palestine Under Occupation 60 years of Nakba Youth and International Solidarity Dears…….. As part of the activities to commemorate the 60 anniversary of the Israeli occupation of Palestine in 1984, and believing in the role of the Palestinian national institutions in exposing the practices of occupation and its racist policies against the Palestinian people, and the occupation’s lack of respect for international humanitarian law and international covenants, and because the Palestinian and international youth have a leading role in the leadership of social movements against injustice and occupation, Health Work Committees (HWC) is honored to invite you to participate in the International Youth Camp – commemorating 60 years of Nakba - will take place in the period between the 22-29/7/2008. The idea of the camp was generated by the activities undertaken by HWC at the international level in networking with friends around the world, where our vision is to create an international network of friends, particularly of young people, to work together to formulate a joint action revolving around two issues : First: on the Palestinian level: Out of our convection in the important role of youth, we can work in explaining our just national cause that is guaranteed by international charters and law to the largest number of the world’s people, specifically young people in Europe. We believe that sharing our stories can deliver the Palestinian voice and expose the racist and inhuman occupation. Through a network of Palestinian – European Youth that will carry this message and influence the policies of the European governments in supporting our people’s political and human rights, such as the right of living, education, health, the right of self-determination, the right of return to original homeland, freedom and the release of all prisoners, control of the resources, and liberating our capital Jerusalem. Second: on the International level: Joint Action against savage globalization that is based on plunder and exploitation and confiscation of the rights of peoples to natural evolution and the right to independent choice, and working together for the solidarity and support of oppressed peoples, and exposing the imperial policies in occupying the land to serve its economic interests that are based on the policy of destruction and control of the peoples of the world, including the Palestinian people, making alliance with the imperialist forces. Our Camp Goals: 1. Raising the level of awareness among participants towards the Israeli racist practices against the Palestinian people, in order to use this positive awareness in the pro-Palestinian direction 2. Developing effective pressure and pro players mechanisms to support the struggle of the Palestinian people, through creating a network of Palestinian-European Youth 3. Opening prospects of joint cooperation between camp participants on issues of concern to young people. 4. Addressing progressive development of youth towards global issues. The camp includes meetings, workshops and lectures on the Palestinian issue with Palestinian activists working in various fields, in addition to visits of Palestinian cities. During the camp, an international conference will be held on Palestine under occupation-young and international solidarity – 60 years of Nakba, involving youth groups from Europe in addition to a Progressive group of young Palestinians in the West Bank and in the 48 occupied Palestine and the Golan Heights.
